Simple, One-Time PHP Load Balancing Using Random Redirects – Do You See Any Problems?
I came here through Google searching for PHP load balancing… and got to this thread: http://www.daniweb.com/forums/thread171839.html
I am trying to do something similar, but what I’m trying to do is a one time, one day, quick and cheap load balancing solution using PHP.
The idea is to use a simple php script to randomly redirect users to several other servers with one static page. I am just wondering if this would be sufficient if I were to expect an influx of users for only one day (may reach up to 50,000 users within a one hour period). Below is what I have come up with using only limited php knowledge. The server running this script will be a basic dedicated virtual server by MediaTemple which should suffice as a temporary load balancer, and will be redirected to multiple GridServer accounts from MediaTemple. Do you see any problems with this?(…)
Dual homing / load balancing over wifi
We have a requirement to configure dual homing on Openwrt – we need this to gain bandwidth. We have two wifi cards on two different channels and I need to balance them so that traffic can go over either of them. The two links are on different subnets and the whole network is routed, not bridged. The turbo channels are messy with rf noise so they are a no go-er. We are stuck with the standard channels and we are getting good links over 7km, running at 54mbps with an RSSI of 30 – 40 at each site.
Can this be done?
Load balancing DSL lines: any experience?
Does anyone have experience w/ load balancing DSL lines; specifically for streaming video.
I’ve read many conflicting answers on the internet.
I currently have 1.5Mb; that is the fastest reliable connection I can get.
I had the phone co try 3Mb this week, but my SNR went from 14-18 down to 4-6. It kept going down every 10 minutes or so.
Does anyone here have actual experience with this type of setup, and will bridging two 1.5 lines help me achieve better streaming vid quality?
Combining multiple connections from an ISP
Working on a new branch office deployment. The upload speeds required by the new office have brought up the idea of bonding multiple connections from a single ISP in order to increase upload bandwidth. It is my understanding at this time that these will be business class cable connections brought in on cable modems, and handed off to me over ethernet.
I have never bonded two ISP connections like this and quite frankly I can’t figure out how to do it. It might be easier if I knew a technical name for this type of deployment. I’ve heard of people bonding T1 WICs (IMA..inverse multiplexing over ATM)…but never Ethernet.
Anyone have any suggestions/recommendations?
